How to Prevent Air Bubbles in Cream Glue Piping

Air bubbles show up as sudden gaps, pops or uneven ridges. They often enter when a partly used tube is repeatedly squeezed from the middle, when a nozzle is attached without being primed, or when separated material flows inconsistently. Practice on scrap before piping the visible border of a project.

Move material toward the outlet

With the cap secured, handle the tube only as its packaging allows and push material forward gradually from the sealed end. Avoid folding sharply or pumping the middle, which can trap pockets and weaken the package.

Prime the nozzle

Attach the clean nozzle securely and pipe a continuous test line until flow is even. Discard the irregular beginning on the work liner rather than starting directly on the craft base.

Keep pressure and pace consistent

Use a comfortable two-hand grip if needed. Maintain pressure while moving, then release before lifting. Frequent starts and stops create more visible joins and can pull air back toward the tip.

Respond to a bubble in the design

If the material is still workable, use the maker-approved tool to close a small gap and cover the correction with the planned pattern or a lightweight charm. Large collapsed sections are cleaner when removed and repiped early.
